About Them: Truman and Eisenhower Doctrines

Have you ever decided to place dominoes one after another? If you decide to push down the one  at the beginning, all of the dominoes will end up falling in a chronological order. Exactly that is what happened with the "domino theory" whose goal was to have all the countries in the world not fall though communism, known as the "Containment Policy." The Domino theory was applied to countries such as Turkey and Greece.

The Truman Doctrine, established by Harry S. Truman making it clear that the United States would strongly support of all the democratic nations with political, military, and economic assistance. However, this only applied to the nations that were threatened by external or internal authoritarian forces. In addition, this also helped redefine the foreign policy.

Ten years after the Truman Doctrine was passed, and placed into work, President Eisenhower invoked the Eisenhower Doctrine. It was similar to the Truman Doctrine. In 1957, as oil rich Middle Eastern seemed "threatened" by the communist aggression, President Dwight D. Eisenhower asked for and granted by Congress several hundred million dollars in military aid.
